There are few ways to get to Kadavu and Matava Resort. Pacific Sun airline serves the island of Kadavu with daily flights from Nadi and Suva. The flight from Nadi is on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The flight from Suva is on Wednesdays. There are no flights on Sundays.
Island Hopper Charter flights also services the resort on Saturdays and any other day on request.
Upon your arrival you’ll be personally met up by one of the resort’s custom built transfer boats.

Scheduled Flights Nadi – Kadavu
The island-hopper flight from Nadi to Kadavu takes approximately 40 minutes. Restroom facilities are available at Kadavu airport though very little else. You are now officially off the beaten path !
Upon arrival you will be met by one of our boatmen who will load you and your luggage into a truck for a 5 minute ride to our guest transfer boat. The truck may stop for a few minutes along the way to collect some resort supplies. Our boat will be waiting at anchor in a small calm mangrove bay.
Depending on the tide, you may have to walk out in ankle deep water to board. Complimentary cold water and soft drinks are available on the transfer boat.
The boat is covered though you may wish to have sunscreen and sunglasses handy. The ride to the resort takes about 45 minutes depending on the tide and weather conditions. It is a wonderful scenic ride so you might wish to have your camera handy.
The journey is entirely within the inner shallow water lagoons of the Great Astrolabe Barrier Reef.
The transfer boat carries all suitable safety equipment including lifejackets, distress flares, rockets and mobile phone.
If the airline elects to put on two flights, you arrive on the first flight but your luggage or other guests are on the second flight, you may have to wait for its arrival. Any such wait should be less than 30 minutes and the Matava Staff will ensure you are comfortable and relaxed while you wait.
Pacific Sun flies once each day Nadi – Kadavu – Nadi on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and Suva – Kadavu on Wednesdays. There are no flights on Sundays (unless you charter the IslandHoppers aircraft – See below)
These flights drop off guests on Kadavu’s Vunisea airport and pick up departing guests, returning them to Nadi or Suva on the main island.
Pacific Sun usually leaves Nadi at 11.30am arriving Kadavuat 12.10pm. It then departs Kadavuat 12.15pm arriving back in Nadi at 1.00pm.

An alternative to the scheduled flights and booked for your convenience are Chrter Flights. Two options are land plane to the Kadavu Airport and Seaplane right to the shore in front of the resort!

Charter a Seaplane with Pacific Island Seaplanes
Fly Direct From Nadi International Airport to Matava Resort, landing in the sea and stepping out of your aircraft right onto the pristine shoreline, what better way to arrive?
Their Amphibious seaplanes and wheeled planes can transfer you from Nadi Airport and deliver you to Matava quickly and simply. Make your own schedule and leave the others standing in the queue. Their seven place Canadian Dehavilland Beaver seaplane and its big brother, the 10 place Single Otter are known as the “Canadian Bush planes”, where they were used to settle Northern Canada and Alaska and are still used extensively throughout Northern Canada and Alaska and are known as air taxis, without them there would be no mode of transportation in the north.

There is one scheduled ferry service which sails Suva – Vunisea – Kavala Bay – Suva. Departs from Narains Wharf (Walu Bay, Suva).
The ferry sails once a week departing Suva late at night on Wednesdays. Its about a 7 hour passage to Vunisea which means you arrive at about 6.00am. We are able to collect guest off the ferry when it arrives in Vunisea though we must have prior notice and you may have to wait a few hours if we have guests arriving on a flight.
The ferries not only carry passengers but also freight and livestock to the island. You therefore may find yourself sharing passage with building supplies and chickens.
This method of transport to the island of Kadavu is not for the feint hearted.

Alternatively, guests with a penchant for a bit of angling adventure can charter Bite Me, the resort’s 31ft DeepV gamefishing vessel.
You are collected from the Royal Suva Yacht Club early in the morning and fish your way to the resort.
Stopping off at key fishing locations along the way such as Solo Attol and the Ono drop-off, you arrive at the resort in the early evening and present your catch to the waiting resort chef to be prepared for your dinner.
Bite Me can transfer up to four guests however such transfers are subject to weather conditions.
